Short, simple poems for our time
Plans
Off to uni, then the travelling
Had it planned for several years
Fresh beginnings, no commitments
Free to seek out new frontiers
Make new friends in every city
Mammut rucksack, logger boots
Put some meat on all those daydreams
Find a place to put down roots
Then one evening just before some
tribute-gig down at the Crown
She turned up to make a foursome
Turned my whole life upside down
Five foot nowt without her heels on
Quiet spoken, wistful smile
Chestnut hair down to her shoulders
Classy outfit, casual style
Chatted for a while and took the
long walk home through Lovers' Lane
Saw her off at nearly midnight
On the early parcel train
Next few months were just a blur
Never thought I'd feel that way
Think she likes me, know I love her
All my plans in disarray
Fate steps in and takes control
Short engagement, wedding ring
Life's what happens while you're scheming
Wouldn't change a single thing
