Short, simple poems for our time
Poems
In common with almost every other human being on the planet, I like to think I have a great sense of humour. It has to be said though, that this opinion is not shared by everyone on the receiving end of my comedic offerings. Just ask my long-suffering wife.
Exploring some of the lessons learned and conclusions drawn from a longish life, but cognisant of the fact that my view of this world is but a hallucinatory model of what I think will help me control the tenuous grip I have on the events that determine my life,
My philosophical thoughts extend no further than how we can navigate our lives to adapt to the personalities, desires and morality that nature has endowed us with. I'm pretty sure that humans have no purpose other than procreation, so we just have to ensure that we derive as much pleasure from life as we can, without denying others the same opportunity.
With each year that passes, I realise how important it is for us to forge early relationships that will help us sustain happiness and fend off loneliness for the duration of our ever-increasing life-spans. These poems are all about young love, which has a near-magical quality that dissipates as we age.
